The management of a Chinese agricultural machinery factory has promised to set up a multi-purpose walking tractor assembly plant in Uganda.
The Chinese Ambassador, Fan Guijin, recently said the Ms. Anhui Changjiang Agricultural Machinery Company was determined to enter into trade and economic cooperation with Uganda. He said the walking tractor could be used for power generation, ploughing, weeding, irrigation and transportation of produce from the gardens to the mills. He said China was committed to the promotion of development in Uganda.
Officials from the company assembled and tested one of the walking tractors for the public during Butaleja district Women's Day celebrations at the district headquarters recently. The tractor was then handed over to district officials for use by the farmers at Doho Rice Scheme.
